Pure-Tone Audiometry presents tones of varying frequency and intensity through headphones. The patient signals when sounds are perceived, producing an audiogram that defines hearing thresholds across frequencies. PTA is the gold standard for determining hearing sensitivity and forms the foundation of audiological evaluation.

Speech Audiometry

Speech Audiometry complements pure-tone testing by evaluating speech detection and recognition. The Speech Reception Threshold (SRT) measures the lowest intensity at which speech can be correctly identified, while Word Recognition Scores (WRS) assess the percentage of words correctly repeated at a comfortable listening level. Together, PTA and speech audiometry provide a comprehensive profile of functional hearing, guiding rehabilitation strategies such as hearing aid fitting and communication training
